Recent Achievement in Gene Cloning and Functional Genomics in Soybean

چکیده
Soybean is a model plant for photoperiodism as well as for symbiotic nitrogen fixation. However, a rather low efficiency in soybean transformation hampers functional analysis of genes isolated from soybean. In comparison, rapid development and progress in flowering time and photoperiodic response have been achieved in Arabidopsis and rice. As the soybean genomic information has been released since 2008, gene cloning and functional genomic studies have been revived as indicated by successfully characterizing genes involved in maturity and nematode resistance. Here, we review some major achievements in the cloning of some important genes and some specific features at genetic or genomic levels revealed by the analysis of functional genomics of soybean.

P164: Adeno-Associated Viral Vectors in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (BMD) is an inherited X-link disease. The incidence of this muscle-wasting disease is 1:5000 male live births. Mutation in the gene coding for dystrophin is the main cause of BMD. Most cases of this disease succumb to respiratory and cardiac failure in 3rd to 4th decades. The slow progression of BMD and recent achievement of gene therapies make it as an appropriate c...
متن کاملIdentification and molecular cloning of glutamate decarboxylase gene from Lactobacillus casei
Gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) possesses several physiological functions such as neurotransmission, induction of hypotension, diuretic and tranquilizer effects. Production of GABA-enriched products by lactic acid bacteria has been a focus of different researches in recent years because of their safety and health-promoting specifities. In this study, glutamate decarboxylase (gad) gene of a loca...
متن کاملGaining insight into soybean defense responses using functional genomics approaches.
Soybean pathogens significantly impact yield, resulting in over $4 billion dollars in lost revenue annually in the United States. Despite the deployment of improved soybean cultivars, pathogens continue to evolve to evade plant defense responses. Thus, there is an urgent need to identify and characterize gene networks controlling defense responses to harmful pathogens. In this review, we focus ...

متن کاملCloning and sequencing of Toxoplasma gondii major surface antigen (SAG1) gene
Genetic typing methods of T. gondii strains have been extensively perfected in recent years. From a technical point of view, many tools usable for genetic studied on single-copy loci have been used: RFLP, PCR-RFLP, sequencing, RAPD-PCR and isoenzyme analysis. We described the cloning and sequence analysis of the gene which encodes the major surface antigen (SAG1 or P30) of T. gondii. SAG1 is ...
